Beautiful place, looks quite secluded from the rest of the world and nice composition.
It wud be gr8, if u cud put a write-up abt the significance about the place.
Btw, the portions of shadow of the boat looks a little dark. Adjusting the levels might help!

The place is 'Thalakad', on the bank of river Kavery - about 150 km from bangalore. The place is famous for 5 Shiva temples (Panchalingam), of which 2 lingams are about 150ft deep.
There are many stories related to this place - one of them is that once a Rani committed suicide for some reason here in kavery, cursing the place to be filled with sand. They say there are about 1000acres of sand across thalakad. Not only that there is a whirlpool nearby in Kavery and tht was created by the rani when she drowned!!!
And regarding the darkness in the picture,
adjusting the level for the whole picture doesn't feel like a good idea as it changes the level of all the area in the picture.. i think adding a layer mask to a duplicate layer and increasing the brightness only over the darkened area might help...[kooduthal maniyanodu chodichaal manasilaakum..:-)]
the lone tree in the whole landscape makes the snap extraordinary...well framed!!!

I like the original pic much more than the edited one.
I agree with the comments that the original is much better. You overdid the highlights, the sky on the right is overexposed.
